Despite popular belief, our classes aren't just prancing around dancing and moving. Our studies involve much theory and all that is associated with academia. Dance/Movement Therapy is very much a psychotherapy, so we delve into psychology and therapeutic concepts and frameworks. While we have a couple classes this quarter where we actually get to move and learn experientially, the majority of our classes are sit-down lectures.
I find it important as a Dance/Movement Therapy student to stay in touch and connected with my creative arts modality. In other words, I need to dance and move myself! I haven't been taking any dance classes lately, but I did have the wonderful opportunity to dance/move with two of my classmates this past Tuesday night.
