On the list of things that I apparently think about late at night:
The harm that microplastics AND glitter have on the environment in the long term.
Yes, glitter. That sounds ridiculous, but is actually me being serious. For all the glitter lovers out there please consider the harm microplastics, like glitter made from plastic, might have on the environment (e.g. many microplastics find their way to the ocean, affecting marine life). And in general, it's most beneficial to the environment to avoid using plastic as much as possible.
But do not fret environmentally conscious glitter lovers; companies like BioGlitz, Eco Glitter Fun, EcoStardust, and Wild Glitter (to name a few) are creating biodegradeable glitter. I will admit that I enjoy a little glitz here and there, and seeing the occasional glitter beard now and then.
However, what I'm currently trying to figure out is what do we do with all the plastic glitter that already exists? 🤔
And all of this thinking about plastic and the environment also has me thinking about the long term effects that humans have on this Earth that we inhabit. Something that has stuck with me recently that someone talked about during a conversation at a party I attended is how some people tend to look at the past and wish that they could change it instead of looking at the present and thinking about how what they do now could affect the future.
I encourage you all to be environmentally-conscious, especially during the holiday season and think about the future of the planet.
And in my effort to reduce waste in landfills, there's this blog post: http://ericativity.weebly.com/bloggity-blog/i-appreciate-recycling
Please send me any suggestions or updates I should make to the post, because it's been awhile since I first posted it in 2015.
Peace&Love.
